DUNCAN MCNAUGHTON WALLACE spent the whole of his business life in Glasgow, where he was born in 1876.
He was educated at the Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College and apprenticed with Messrs. Duncan Stewart and Company.
After a visit to the U.S.A. and Canada to study production methods he became works manager for Messrs. John Wallace and Sons, agricultural implement makers, Dennistoun.
In 1914 he supervised the erection and equipment of new works for the firm covering two and a half acres.
In 1919 he was appointed joint managing director of Messrs. Wallace (Glasgow), a company formed for the manufacture of agricultural implements and tractors in which the original company was merged.
Mr. Wallace died on 15th May 1927, at which time he was managing director of the reconstructed company.
He became a Member of the Institution in 1920.
