1903 Advert: 'Valuable Engineering Works, situate Middleton, near Manchester, for Sale as a Going Concern in One Lot ..... ALL that Valuable ENGINEERING WORKS, called Globe Works, situate at Middleton. near Manchester, with the gas engine, shafting, piping, electric light installation, high class modern machine tools, plant, office furniture, and other fixtures therein, and the valuable land forming the site thereof. <br>The PREMISES leasehold, situate within 100 yards of Middleton Station, on the L. and Y. Railway line, and will be sold subject to the conditions upon which the same are now held, and to two yearly rents £4 and £5 1s. 6d., payable in respect of the premises, but with the benefit of a yearly rent charge of £10 5s., receivable in respect of adjoining property. <br>The WORKS are adapted for electric, refrigerating, cold storage, aud general engineering, tool-making, and brass founding, as recently carried on by the owners, Messrs. Duxbury Bros. Limited. <br>The BUILDINGS are brick-built, one to three storeys high, a lofty one-storey turning and erecting shop, having recently been erected. The MOTIVE TOWER, &c., comprises one horizontal 36-h.p. gas engine, the "Stockport' 10in. cylr. 16in. stroke, with tube ignition, and two balance wheels, by Andrew and Co. Limited ; polished shafting and wrought-iron piping throughout the premises, and electric light installation, [[J. H. Pickup and Co]]. Limited, Bury. <br>The MACHINE TOOLS,&Ac.', are by Messrs. the [[Northern Engineering Co]]., Halifax, and Messrs. Duxbury Bros. Limited, and include seven high class modern self-acting slide, surfacing, and screw cutting gap lathes, 6in to 14 1/2in. centres, on 6ft. to 20ft. planed cast-iron beds; ll 1/2.in. slide lathe. 9in. centre boring lathe, one 5in. and one 8 1/4in. Wood turning lathes, milling machine, one new double tool box self-acting planing machine to plane 12ft. long 3ft. 6in. wide by 3ft. DUO. high. One new single tool box, ditto to plane 6ft. long 2ft. 6in. wide by 2ft. 6in. high.
