"WE regret to announce the sudden death on November 7, of MR. E. A. SHIELD, the chief executive and general manager in England of [[A. Schrader's Son]], division of [[Scovill Manufacturing Co]]. Mr. Shield, who was fifty-five years of age, joined Schrader in 1922 at WiUesden and soon after the move in 1933 to the present factory in Tyburn Road, Birmingham, he assumed responsibility for customer contact with all United Kingdom tyre factories. Subsequently, he played an important part in the establishment of Schrader tyre valves as standard equipment throughout the world. From 1952 he was original equipment sales manager, visiting tyre manufacturers in many countries. From 1957 to 1961, as assistant general manager, he was closely associated with a wide expansion of Schrader products in both motoring and industrial fields."
