1977 'EXPANSION of activities for the Bristol works of Braby Leslie will be part of a takeover by the company of a loss-making subsidiary of Midlands group Alcan Booth. The £441,000 deal including purchase price of £168,000 and loan repayments of £273,000 is the result of an agreement whereby Braby Leslie buys E. C. Payter and Co. In 1976 Payter lost £74,000 but the greater part was incurred at the firm's Bilston Works in the West Midlands which is being closed. The business carried in Tipton Staffordshire is complementary to that of Braby’s Bristol works which is undergoing modernisation and whose range of products has been broadened. Braby Group at Ashton Gate makes bulk storage including silos and buildings'[1]
