Edwin Thomas Wright started an ironworks at Monmoor Green, with his brother-in-law David North of Bilston, trading as Wright and North (North and Wright?), later as E. T. Wright and Son, producing wrought iron and wrought iron products.
Later an engineering works was established at Goscote, near Walsall, where boilers, engines and other products were made, including Wright's patent 'corkscrew' boilers. The business was carried on by E. T. Wright's son George, who later transferred the work to Millfields Foundry. A speciality was the manufacture of Siemens furnaces.
In 1919 the business became Ernest N. Wright Ltd, and was eventually taken over by Stewarts and Lloyds after joining with Alfred Hickman Ltd.
