1911 J.O. Eaton and partners set up business as an axle manufacturing company

1963 Eaton acquired Yale and Towne Manufacturing Company and Dole Valve Co., maker of appliance and automotive controls.

1966 Eaton was renamed Eaton Yale and Towne Inc.

1971 Company name changed to Eaton Corporation.

1971 Quoted on the London Stock Exchange[1]

1977 British operations included: Eaton axles and transmissions, Yale industrial trucks, Yale security products, Eaton industrial drives and other precision engineered products[2]

1978 Acquired Cutler-Hammer Manufacturing Co

1978 Eaton attempted to sell the Yale lock and security business to Thomas Tilling Ltd[3] but the deal fell through[4]

1978 Scovil (sic) Manufacturing Company acquired Eaton Corporation's world-wide security products business, including its locks and hardware business at Willenhall[5]

1994 Acquired the Distribution and Control business unit of Westinghouse

1997 Opened Glasgow office providing financial services for the Corporation's European operations[6]

1998 The company's truck axle and brake business - its founding business - was sold to Dana Corporation.

1999 Acquired Aeroquip-Vickers, Inc., producer of industrial hydraulic equipment

2000 The semiconductor equipment business was spun off as Axcelis Technologies, Inc.

2003 Acquired the Electrical Division of Delta Metal Co

2004 Acquired Powerware Corporation

2008 Acquired Moeller Group in Germany - a manufacturer of components for residential building applications, and circuit protection and industrial controls for machinery.

2010 Acquired CopperLogic Inc., an industrial equipment manufacturer and distributor of industrial control products

2012 Acquired Cooper Industries Inc

2019 The Corporation is a global technology leader in electrical components and systems for power quality, distribution and control; hydraulics components, systems and services for industrial and mobile equipment; aerospace fuel, hydraulics and pneumatic systems for commercial and military use; and truck and automotive drive-train and power-train systems for performance, fuel economy and safety.
