Received training under A. B. Mountain, Huddersfield Corporation Electricity Supply Department, and later held various positions on staff. Fifteen years with Blackburn Corporation Electricity Supply Department as Mains Engineer and later as Deputy Borough Electrical Engineer. Appointed Borough Electrical Engineer of South Shields, July, 1919.
