1900 Worked for Tunks Ltd, engineers, furnace and oven builders in Cardiff
1902 Worked for several firms as journeyman on furnace work and bakers' ovens.
1904 Invented and patented steam-heated baker's oven, the first of a number of patents
1904 Established business on own account. Invented and patented reverberatory furnace for heating ships plates and angles. Studied metallurgy and heat treatment of metals at home.
1910 Erected furnaces for all of the ship-repairing firms in the Bristol Channel.
1911 Edward Curran 30, employer, furnace builder for shipyards, tinplate works, boiler works, etc, lived in Cardiff with Mary Curran 32, Mary Patricia Curran 8, Phyllis Winifred Curran 6, Veronica Curran 3, Paul Eugene Curran 1[3]
1914 Furnace engineer and patentee, principal of Curran Brothers, furnace engineers, Bute Street, Cardiff, owner of Cardiff Foundry Co; elected to associate membership of I Mech E.
