1832 Born in Cornwall, son of Joseph Tangye (1798-1854) and his wife Ann.
c.1855 Set out for America but the ship sank; Edward was one of the few survivors.
He went to Birmingham and joined his brother, Richard at Thomas Worsdell's works.
Later the Tangye brothers established James Tangye and Brothers
1867 Married Ann Cowlin in Cornwall[1]
1889 According to his brother's, Richard's, autobiography Edward was engaged at this date in the manufacture of a greatly improved fuse, by special machinery invented by him.

. . . fourth son of Joseph and Ann Tangye, and brother of George Tangye, Heathfield Hall, Handsworth died on Thursday of last week. Mr. Tangye was born at Illogan, Cornwall, on April 27th, 1832, and he was one of the five brothers Tangye, who among them founded and carried on the now celebrated Cornwall Works. . . [more]
