1875 Obituary [1]

Born in April, 1805, at Bidestroff, a little town in the Department of the Meurthe, M. Schneider, at the age of 18, commenced his professional career.

At 22 years he became manager of the iron works at Barzeilles, and in 1837, the brothers, Adolphe and Eugene Schneider, purchased the land and such works as then existed at Creusot, and fairly entered upon their successful career.

In 1845, the elder brother died, leaving to the one whose death is now deplored, the task of carrying on the establishment, which during the nine years of their joint management had increased so wonderfully....[more]
