Fakirjee E. Bharucha (1871- )

1922 L.M.E., M.I. Mech.E.,M.I.E., Mechanical and Textile Engr., 63, Bund Garden Road, Poona, India; b. 1871. Trained in Victoria Jubilee Technical College and obtained the diploma of Licentiate of Mechanical Engineering in 1892 in first class. Passed Bombay Boiler Act Examination of first class in 1895. Served as Mill Manager and Engineer-in-Chief for eighteen years in various industrial concerns, such as cotton spinning and weaving mills, oil mills, flour mills, rice mills, ice factories, etc.; served for nine years as Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering at Poona, and for one year as Senior Professor of Mechanical Engineering. Now serving in the Department of Industries, as Assistant Director of Industries, Bombay Presidency. Ai Read a paper on "Motive Power in India: Its Cost and Selection," before Bombay Engineering Congress in 1917, and also on "Design and Construction of Brick Chimneys for Steam Boilers," in 1920. Designed and built Lahore Spinning and Weaving Mills, Lahore, Punjab, India; Amritsar Flour and General Mills, Amritsar, Punjab; Amritsar General Mills, Amritsar. Publications: "Mill Engineering in India in Gujrati" (1200 pages, now in third edition); "Motive Power in India: Its Cost and Selection"; "Oil and Gas Engines"; "Electric Light"; "Building Construction." Member of the Ladies Club, Poona.
