c.1963 Started work on use of lasers

1984 As a result of the reorganisation of the company, the Industrial Electronics Division was formed as one of the 5 divisions.

1988 Ferranti Industrial Electronics, of Dundee, offered CO2 lasers for industrial cutting duty[1]

1990 Two parts of this division, laser and components, both based in Dundee, were in negotiation to conduct management buy-outs[2]
