1956 Francis Sumner (Holdings), spinners and manufacturers, was acquired[1] by Douglas Ward and William Alexander McMillan[2]

1957 Acquired Marshall Weatherproof of Manchester[3]. Capital raising to fund acquistion of companies to "restore the fortunes of the company"[4]. Acquired the share capital of M. Adler, and M. and H. Raphael, manufacturers of rainwear.[5]

1958 Acquired J. Bender and Co and D. and I. Gordon, makers of ladies dresses[6]. Merger proposed with Ewart Holdings[7] but this did not proceed[8]. Acquired a majority interest in Brough, Nicholson and Hall[9]. Masteradio was part of the group[10]

1959 Acquired A. W. Hewetson, of Macclesfield, maker of F.A. Cup finalists' badges[11]

1960 Took control of Buttons Ltd[12]

1966 Sold the 2 rainwear businesses[13]

1967 Telefusion acquired the Fleet group of companies - Fleet Electrics (retail), View Rentals (City), Reliance T.V. Service and Wiggs Ltd[14] - so the Francis Sumner group was entirely a textiles business[15]

1969 Acquired Cotton and Rayon Spinners.[16]

1977 Sold Lloyds British Testing Co[17]
