FRANCIS THOMAS BARNETT, who died at Buluwayo, British South Africa, in 1896, received his technical education at the Royal School of Mines, graduating as Associate of the Royal School of Mines in 1882.
In 1884 he was appointed chemist and steelworks manager to Messrs. Hatton Sons & Co. of Birmingham, and in 1894 he was appointed representative for F. Siemens, Esq., in the Midlands, North of England, and Scotland.
In 1896 he was appointed chemist and assayer to the Belingwe Consolidated Gold Mines, Buluwayo.
He was a Fellow of the Chemical Society, and was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1883.
