FRANCIS WILLIAM RUSSELL went to Mexico in 1889 to superintend the erection of textile machinery, and in 1895 became assistant engineer of the firm of Messrs. John Bannister, and a partner of the firm in 1902.
He was also a director of the Compailia Linera de Mexico and a cotton spinning mill.
Mr. Russell, who became a Member of the Institution in 1906, was educated at Dulwich College and served his apprenticeship with Messrs. Howard and Bullough at Accrington.
His death occurred at the age of 72 at Vera Cruz on 1st December 1929.
