Frederick Augustus Smith (1882-1943)


1943/44 Obituary [1]

Frederick Augustus Smith was born in 1882.

Following his apprenticeship with the Great Western Railway, he went to sea for three years as Engineer.

In 1907 he joined the Midland Railway Company as Locomotive Superintendent, leaving them four years later to become Mechanical Superintendent to the Bristol Tramway and Carriage Company.

In 1920 he joined S. and A. Fuller, of Bath, as General Manager, which position he occupied until the time of his death on 28th November, 1943.

He was elected an Associate Member in 1932.
