"FREDERICK CHARLES CROXFORD was born in 1885. He received his technical education at East London Technical College as a day student, and at West Ham Technical Institute, followed by private coaching. His apprenticeship was served with F. Allen and Sons, Ltd., Bow, London. To gain as wide an experience as possible in the field of industrial plant engineering Mr. Croxford served as foreman, chief draughtsman, and assistant superintendent in connexion with industries such as confectionery, printing, rubber, cigarette making, metal box making, and wrapping and packaging for various products. In all these industries his marked flair for invention and experimental research was developed and he was the patentee of several novel machines.
Joining Oxo, Ltd., in 1915, he was promoted to chief engineer within a few years, which position he held until 1943; after this he remained with the company as consultant until his death on 8th January 1951. Mr. Croxford was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1924, and transferred to Member in 1935.
