1863 When his uncle, Charles Alexander Saunders retired as Secretary to the GWR, Frederick filled his place

1886 June Resigned as Secretary and was made a Director of the company.
1889 Succeeded Daniel Gooch as Chairman of the GWR
1895 June. Retired as Chairman and remained a member of the Board until his death
1901 January 1st. Died at Reading.
1901 February 11th. Probate of Frederick George Saunders of Caversham Grove, Oxfordshire, to his widow Elizabeth and others.
