Mr G. C. Scott, BSc. Tech (Fellow), died recently.
Educated in Britain and Japan, Mr Scott was a graduate of Manchester University. His apprenticeship and the first years of his career were spent with Metro-Vicks. In 1935 he joined International Combustion Ltd to work on boiler trials, the design of filters and pumps and, later, to investigate combustion and fouling problems. He became Senior Engineer of J. D. Crozier and Partners in 1947 and six years later he moved to the Distillers Co, where he became the Chief Power Engineer. He later joined BP Chemicals (UK) Ltd as Chief Power Engineer.
A Member of the Institution since 1930 and a prominent Member of Council, Mr Scott also served on the Greater London Branch committee and was appointed Chairman of its SE Panel. He was also a Vice-Chairman of the Process Engineering Group.
Mr Scott's warm and friendly personality will be remembered by his many friends and colleagues and it is with deep regret that the Institution announces his death.
