GEC-AEI Telecommunications

1967 This was one of the subsidiaries GEC established to bring together previous GEC and AEI business units. Production was concentrated at Coventry, Glenrothes, Hartlepool, Newton Aycliffe, Kirkcaldy and Middlesbrough. The AEI (ex-Siemens) factory at Woolwich was closed but the other AEI telecoms factories were well equipped but needed to be more productive. The Reliance Telephone Co and the AEI Private Telephone were brought together. Submarine Cables and Telephone Cables were brought together in a new business unit in the telecoms business[1]
Presumably at a later date this became GEC Telecommunications.
