GAYFORD Rix was born in King's Lynn in 1873 and received his technical education at King's Lynn Technical School.


He served his apprenticeship from 1889 to 1893 in the works of [[Savage Brothers|Messrs. Savage Brothers]], of King's Lynn, afterwards remaining with the firm until 1897.
He then entered the drawing office of [[Siemens Brothers and Co|Messrs Siemens Brothers and Company, Ltd.]], at Woolwich. Mr. Rix continued his technical studies at Woolwich Polytechnic and in 1902 obtained the bronze medal of that institution. In the same year he was awarded the City and Guilds of London Institute bronze medal for first-class honours in mechanical engineering, being placed second in the United Kingdom.
He was transferred to Messrs. Siemens's London office in 1904 and was engaged on technical estimating and supervision of contracts.
In 1919 Messrs. Siemens's business was taken over by the [[English Electric Co|English Electric Company]], and Mr. Rix continued his work with that firm.
He was transferred to their Stafford works in 1927, and at the time of his death, which occurred on 12th July 1935, he was the leading engineer in the contract section there.
He was elected to Associate Membership of the Institution in 1903.

GAYFORD Rix was born in King's Lynn in 1873 and received his technical education at King's Lynn Technical School.

He served his apprenticeship from 1889 to 1893 in the works of Messrs. Savage Brothers, of King's Lynn, afterwards remaining with the firm until 1897.

He then entered the drawing office of Messrs Siemens Brothers and Company, Ltd., at Woolwich.
