Eugene Gellerat produced steam rollers, initially based on the 1860 patent of Ballaison of Bordeaux. Between 1864 and 1891 Gellerat took out a series of patents related to steam rollers.

A magnificent scale model of a steam roller built to the 1881 patent was produced by Cherry Hill.[1]
