GEOFFREY ORMES SHEFFIELD became a pupil in the Brighton Works of the London, Brighton, and South Coast Railway.
Upon completion of his training in 1920 he took up a post as technical assistant with the Slough Trading Company, but subsequently returned to Brighton as a lecturer in the Technical College, where he was responsible for the special classes for railway students.
In 1926 he became assistant in the mechanical engineering department at the Borough Polytechnic, London, where he took an active part in the preparation of students for the National Certificate Examinations of the Institution. In 1927 four of his students were awarded National Certificate Prizes.
He died in his thirty-second year at Leysin, Switzerland, on 17th May 1930.
He became a Graduate of the Institution in 1919 and an Associate Member in 1925.
