1845 Born in London son of Adam Haldane Duncan, second Earl of Camperdown, and his wife Juliana (nee Philips).
1863 Began a pupilage at the works of Maudslay, Sons and Field
1868 Became a member of the firm when he completed his apprenticeship
1881 Mechanical Engineer, CE, living in London in his brother's (the third Earl of Camperdown) house in Berkeley Square, London
1882 Joined the Institution of Civil Engineers
1886 On behalf of Maudslay, Sons and Field, described the firm's boilers
1887 Resigned from the board of the company
1888 Married Laura Smith (nee Dove) the widow of John Adams Blanchard in Boston, USA; she already had 4 children.
1918 Renounced the title of Lord Camperdown which he inherited when his brother died - but there was no legal basis for him to do this as peers did not have that option at that time[1]
1933 Died in Boston, USA
