GEORGE FINDLAY ROBERTSON, after about ten years' service with the Carron Company of Falkirk as superintending engineer, entered in 1923 the employment of Messrs. Jute Industries, of Dundee, in a similar capacity, and held this position at the time of his death on 31st March 1933.

He was born in Carmyllie, Forfarshire, in 1873 and after receiving his technical training at the Harris Academy at Dundee and St. Andrew's University, he served his apprenticeship from 1890 to 1896 with Messrs. J. and H. Whyte and Cooper, Britannia Engine and Boiler Works, Dundee.

He then joined Messrs. Easton, Anderson and Goolden of Erith, Kent, as junior draughtsman and was later appointed chief draughtsman.

He was subsequently engaged for a short time with Messrs. G. Clark of Sunderland on marine work, and went to sea from 1896 to 1899, obtaining an extra first-class certificate.

In 1900 he returned to his former position with Messrs. Easton and Company and a few months later became assistant engineer to the National Boiler and General Insurance Company, of Manchester, and held this post for over ten years.

In 1911 Mr. Robertson was appointed chief engineer to the Bessbrook Spinning Company, Co. Armagh, and after two and a half years' service he joined the Carron Company, for whom he was responsible for all engineering plant and steamships.

Mr. Robertson was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1903, and was transferred to Membership in 1911.
