1848 Born in London, son of Georges and Selina Des Vignes, diamond dealer[1]

1878 Torpedo and steam launch maker of Bridge Road, Chertsey[2]

1879 His sister, Georgiana, married[3]

1889 Acquitted of manslaughter after an accident on the Thames involving a steam launch that he was steering[4]

1895 According to a letter from the company to The Engineer, George Francis Gabriel Des Vignes was famous for his fast, narrow river launches[5]

1898 In a letter to The Engineer, he stated he had designed a boiler for a steam carriage some months ago; the boiler was partially constructed and could be inspected at his works at Strand-on-the Green, Chiswick - see Des Vignes, Cloud and Co[6]
