1897 Company founded by George Hamer Scholes.

1910 Private company.

1934 Built the Wylex Works at Wythenshawe.

1955 Company made public.

1961 Manufacturers of electrical fuse gear, switches, cooker control units, plugs and sockets. 601 employees.[1]

1988 After turning down a bid from Delta Metals, acquired wiring and lighting group H. and L. Appleby[2] and Metron (Calne), a maker of enclosures. The company was restructured into 2 divisions - Wylex and Appleby[3]
