At least two of Saunders' assistants put the expertise gained under him to good use after leaving Vedrin. Lambert Rorive erected his first engine at Montegnée in 1738, and in 1745 built the famous machine at Bois de Bossu. Robert Fastré set up an engine at Auvergnies c.1739-40.

George Saunders worked with John O'Kelly in Holland in 1725. He may have been with him at Liege in 1720.

1730 Arrived in Hainaut to set up steam engines at the Vedrin-lez-Namur silver and lead mine.

1741 The Vedrin venture proved uneconomic, and Saunders moved to Charleroi, where he erected an engine.
