1803 Born in Stoke-on-Trent, son of Robert and Elizabeth Hamilton[1]

A Mr Hamilton was a draughtsman with Boulton and Watt in the early part of the 19th century

1841 Engineer, living in Birmingham with Robert Hamilton 19, also an engineer[2]

After the death of James Watt (Junior) Hamilton became a partner in the firm of James Watt and Co

1851 Engineer, living in Handsworth[3]

1860 Gilbert Hamilton, James Watt and Co, Soho Foundry, Birmingham.[4] joined I Mech E.

1861 Engineer, living in Handsworth with Charlotte 42, Gilbert 4, Catherine 5[5]
