Rothesay, Isle of Bute

1843 The hotel has its origins in the hydropathic establishment established by Dr. William Paterson, based on the example of Vincent Priessnitz at Graefenberg. It was the earliest such establishment in Scotland

1890 The Glenburn Hydropathic Company Limited was incorporated. Following a fire in 1891, the building was replaced by a much larger establishment

1897 The company went into voluntary liquidation and a new company of the same name was set up

1936 The Glenburn Hydropathic Company Limited went into voluntary liquidation

1938 The Glenburn Hotel Company Limited was incorporated. The name changed subsequently to The Kyles Hotel Company Limited. This company was dissolved in 1985
