Gurney's Patent
A type of stove, as offered by the London Warming and Ventilating Co
1856 Goldsworthy Gurney developed the Gurney Stove, which he patented in 1856. It was extensively used to heat a wide variety of buildings. The stove's most interesting feature is the use of external ribs to increase the surface area of the stove available for heat transfer. A number of these stoves are still in use to this day, in the cathedrals of Ely, Durham and Peterborough.
