Gustave Adolphe Goesele (1893-1942)
1942 Died. He died on February 28, 1942 in a plane crash in Iran, about 20 miles southeast of Dorud, Iran and 30 miles south of Azna, Iran. He, and another General Motors Overseas Corporation employee, Roland L. Spencer, were on the plane with Colonel John A. Gillies, US Army, Corps of Engineers, and 2 high Soviet officials. The plane left Basra, Iraq destined for Kasvin (now Qazvin), Iran. Their remains were not recoverable and were buried in a common grave at the crash site high on the mountain.Cite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag
Gustave Adolphe Goesele was born in 1893, and received his engineering training in Switzerland.
After holding various positions as Designer and Engineer, he went to America and joined the International Motor Co., New Jersey, as Tool Designer.
Following this, he was Service Representative to General Motors for two years, and then became the Company's Service Manager in Alexandria, and later was Transportation Engineer for the Near East responsible for sales and transport.
He later returned to America, where he died in February, 1942, at the age of 49.
He was elected an Associate Member in 2932.
