1969 Obituary [1]

Mr H. Reik, MSc(Eng) (Fellow), died on 7th June at the age of 52.

Mr Reik, a leading figure in the electric surface heating industry, joined GEC, Manchester, after the 1939-45 war. In 1949 he moved to Isopad as Chief Designer and was later appointed to the board as technical director.

Many of his designs have been patented including Isomantles for laboratories and heating tapes for pipes.

A prominent member of the BEAMA, BSI and ERA committees, Mr Reik joined the Institution in 1944. He was elected an AM in 1949 and a Member in 1957.

It is with a deep sense of loss that the Institution records his death.
