Famed as Nelsons' favorite ship. Built at the Bucklers Hard Dockyard in Hampshire.

C.1856 Construction of Agamemnon, which was fitted with engines of 600 HP. by John Penn and Sons; she attained a much higher speed than had been expected.

1858 May: Employed with the United States frigate Niagara in laying the first telegraph cable connecting England with America.

1906 Launch of a battleship bearing this name

1926 Sold for scrap.
