HARRY JOHN FRASER was born at Bromley-by-Bow, London, on 14th June 1868.
He was educated at Tonbridge School, and subsequently attended classes at King's College, and the City and Guilds of London Institute.
From 1884 to 1890 he worked in the workshops of Messrs. Fraser and Fraser, of London, of which he became works manager at a later date. He subsequently visited many of the largest engineering works on the Continent and in the United States.
In 1901 he joined his father, Mr. John H. Fraser, in founding the present firm of John Fraser and Son, Ltd. engineers and boilermakers at Millwall Boiler Works; and on the retirement of his father from business in 1904, he became managing director of the Company, and carried out many contracts for British and Foreign Governments.
During this period, he devoted himself largely to the study of evaporative condensers and water- tube boilers. of which he brought out several designs, and erected many installations.
His death occurred shortly after an operation following a long illness, on 18th July 1910, at the age of forty-two.
He became a Member of this Institution in 1904.
