Harry Tankard was born in 1884.

Following his apprenticeship and a brief period in which he gained general experience, he became Chief Engineer of the Inter-Transport Company.

From 1919 he was Managing Director of Tankard and Smith, Ltd.

He died on 22nd December, 1944, at the age of 60.

He was elected an Associate Member in 1920.
