"HARRY WEBBER, whose death occurred on 23rd July 1948 in his seventieth year, was for thirty-three years engineer and manager of the Keighley Corporation electricity department and had also been manager of the former Corporation tramways. He served a four years' apprenticeship with Messrs. Johnson and Philips, Ltd., of Old Charlton, and gained further experience in the drawing offices of the Thames Ironworks Shipbuilding Company and other engineering firms in London. From 1901 to 1903 he was assistant engineer to the Dover Electricity Supply Co and during the next five years was chief assistant and deputy borough electrical engineer to the Hastings Corporation.
After two years as assistant electrical engineer to the Corporation of Sunderland he began, in 1910, his long connection with the Borough of Keighley. Mr. Webber was elected a Member of the Institution in 1918. He was also a Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers and a founder member of the Institute of Transport. He was a contributor to the electrical technical press and the author of a book entitled "Simple Facts about Electricity".
