Major HARRY WILLIAM BUDDICOM was born in 1859, being the son of the late Mr. W. B. Buddicom, who was also a Member of this Institution, and whose important work on the railways both in this country and in France are summarized in his Memoir (Proceedings 1887, page 466; 1888, page 154).
He was educated at Wellington College, and after serving an apprenticeship as an engineer with Messrs. Sharp Stewart and Co., of the Atlas Works, Manchester, he was appointed engineer and assistant managing director of the Blaina Iron and Tinplate Works, South Wales.
In the early years of the War, 1914-16, he commanded a squadron of Yeomanry, and was afterwards posted to the Mechanical Warfare Department, where his engineering training and experience found useful scope.
Major Buddicom died on 29th December 1925.
He joined this Institution as a Graduate in 1878, and became a Member in 1885.
