"HARRY WILLIAM MAURICE HIRON, who was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1919, was a refrigerating engineer for most of his professional career. On the completion of a five years' apprenticeship at the Dudbridge Ironworks, Stroud, Gloucestershire, in 1896, he occupied positions as draughtsman to Messrs. Ropeways, Ltd., and the Liverpool Refrigeration Co. He subsequently held an appointment as refrigerating engineer and draughtsman to the Swift Beef Company, Ltd., of Liverpool, which was followed by a three years' association with Mr. B. W. Parsons, of West Smithfield, for whom he supervised the erection and starting of cold stores.
In 1905 he secured an appointment as chief draughtsman and maintenance engineer to Messrs. A. G. Enock and Company, Ltd., dairy refrigerating engineers, London, with whom he remained until 1918, when he was appointed chief engineer to the Agricultural Wholesale Society. Since 1922 Mr. Hiron had been the principal and managing director of Messrs. Hiron and Rempler, Ltd., dairy engineers, of Wembley, Middlesex. His death occurred on 16th November 1948 in his seventy-third year."
