1911 Living at 20 Aldborough Road, Seven Kings, Ilford: Henry Francis Joel (age 38 born Regent's Park), an Electrical Engineer. With his wife (married 14 years no children) Florence Marion Joel (age 38 born Limehouse). One servant.[2]
1914 Incorporated Small Electric Motors.
1936 Sold the company to A. P. Good's Group.
1939 Technical Director, Small Electric Motors Ltd., Beckenham, Kent.

HENRY FRANCIS JOEL, who died on the 4th August, 1948, was born on the 20th June, 1873. He received his early education at the Grocers' Company School and the City of London College, and his engineering education at Finsbury Technical College and University College, London. He received his practical training in his father's company—Henry F. Joel and Co.—and subsequently became Manager of that company and of F. W. Potter and Co. In 1915, when the latter company was incorporated as Small Electric Motors, Ltd., he was appointed Managing Director. During the First World War he carried out some excellent work in connection with the design of electrical machinery for all the Services, particularly the Admiralty.
He joined The Institution as an Associate Member in 1907 and was elected a Member in 1930.
