HENRY PARRY died at his residence at Brierley Hill, on May 27, 1906, aged fifty-nine. He was a native of the Black Country, his father before him having been in the service of the Earl of Dudley.
On leaving school, he entered the office of the Round Oak Works at the age of fifteen. Showing a marked aptitude for business he became in the course of a few years private secretary to Mr. F. S. Shenstone, who was ultimately chief agent for the Earl of Dudley.
About 1876, Mr. Parry was appointed manager of the New Level Furnaces, and from that time until his death filled that responsible position with singular success. He was a member of council of the Staffordshire Iron and Steel Institute, and one of the founders of the Brierley Hill Camera Club.
In 1904 he was elected a member of the Urban District Council, and devoted much time to education committees and other public work. The impressive demonstration of public sorrow at his funeral on May 30 gave evidence of the regard in which he was held throughout the district.
He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1902.
