Sir Henry Parsall Burt, K.C.I.E., C.I.E., C.B.E., Assoc.M.Inst.C.E., V.D., Knight of Grace, Order of St. John of Jerusalem.

1857 Born in Tulse Hill, son of Henry James Potter Burt and his wife Frances Taylor.

Educated at Clifton College

1875 Attended Royal Indian Engineering College, Coopers Hill; practical training on the London and North Western Railway.

1879 Entered service of the Government of India as assistant engineer in the railway department of the public works department.

1883 Associate of Institution of Civil Engineers

1905 Under Secretary to Government of India

1895 Deputy Manager North Western Railway of India.

1902 Manager Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway

1905 East Bengal State Railway.

1907 Man. N.W. India Rly.

1914 President of the Railway Board of India and Member of the Legislative Council of Governor-General and Viceroy

1915 H P Burt left the Indian Railway Board to become Government director in London in succession to Sir T R Wynne[1]

1915 Government Director of Indian Rlys., India Office

1922 Chairman Bengal N.W. Rohilkhund Kumaon and Delhi Umballa Kalka Rlys., and Director Bombay, Baroda and Central India Rly.

1936 Died in Tendring[2]
