1952 Obituary [1]

"HERBERT HAROLD LINCOLN was formerly general manager of the Wallasey Corporation tramways and motor 'bus undertaking. He had been connected with the transport industry throughout his professional career, including his apprenticeship which he served in the tramways department of the Huddersfield Corporation from 1896 to 1901. During this period he attended classes at Huddersfield Technical College. After gaining further practical experience as assistant shop foreman to the South Staffordshire Tramways Co he received an appointment as assistant works foreman to the City of Birmingham Tramways Company, Ltd., and in the meantime continued his studies at a technical school in that city. After acting as superintendent he went to Sheffield, where for eighteen years he was general engineering assistant and chief draughtsman for the Corporation's tramways and motor 'buses. In 1923 he took up his final appointment at Wallasey, retiring in 1943. Mr. Lincoln, whose death in his seventy-second year occurred on 21st January 1951, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1917."
