1813 Advertisement: 'Hive Cast Iron Foundery, HANOVER-STREET, CORK.
THIS extensive Establishment is to be LET or SOLD, with the entire Stock, Working Utensils, and Materials therein. The Concerns extend from Hanover-street to the River, and contain ten thousand seven hundred and thirty-one square feet. The Foundery is worked by a Steam Engine, which is connected with, and also works a spade and Shovel Tilt Mill, all on improved principles. The whole are in the most complete order, and now at full work, and from the advantages accruing from the benefit of water carriage and great extent of the premises, may be considered an establishment more convenient and capable of being conducted upon a larger scale than any similar establishment in Ireland.
An extensive wholesale and retail Foreign and English Bar Iron Store, connected with the Foundery, would (if required) be let or sold therewith, together with the Stock.
For particulars as to the Title, apply by letter (post-paid) to John Dowman, Pub. Not. South Mall, Cork, who, and the proprietor Thomas A. Barnes, will afford such further information concerning the establishment as may be required. N. B. The Proprietor wishing to retire from business in consequence of ill health, a purchaser would meet liberal encouragement as to the mode payment, but he will continue the business in all its branches until the establishment is disposed of.'[1]
