HUBERT THOMAS, born at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on the 13th January, 1839, died at Lowestoft on the 8th September, 1916.
For many years, from 1865 until his retirement, he had been Engineer to the Grand Junction Canal Company, having charge of an extensive canal system, reservoirs and pumping-stations, and designing and constructing canal docks, locks, bridges, artesian wells and other works in connection with inland navigation.
He had in early years been employed on the Church Bridge and Cannock Chase canals, and the Birmingham canal system.
He was elected a Member on the 5th March, 1878.
