1829 Born in Alston, Cumberland son of Hugh Lee Pattinson, metallurgical chemist, and his wife Phoebe

1850 Admitted to Cambridge University

1853 Married Isabella Shield in Westminster[1]

1854 Birth of son Hugh Lee Pattinson (1854-1924)

1861 A manufacturing chemist, age 30, visiting Newcastle[2]

1881 Hugh L. Pattinson 57, Chemical Manufacturer Employing 592 Men & 109 Boys, lived in Scot's House, South Shields, with Hugh L. Pattinson 27, sub manager chemical works, John S. Pattinson 24, Engineer Chemical Works[3]
