1889 Formation of the Federated Institution of Mining Engineers

1890 The first General Meeting was held in Sheffield

1898 Change of name to Institution of Mining Engineers. Annual meeting held in Birmingham[1]

1901 The 12th AGM of the Institute of Mining Engineers was held in Sheffield.
