ISAAC HENRY WRIGHT received his technical training at the Royal College of Science, and served his apprenticeship with Messrs. Croft and Naylor, of Keighley. After gaining experience as fitter and machinist at various works in that town he was appointed chief draughtsman to Messrs. Ward, Haggas and Smith, Ltd.
In 1906 he left Keighley to become leading designer of machine tools for Messrs. Alfred Herbert and Company, of Coventry. Four years later he accepted a similar position with Messrs. Smith, Major and Stevens, electrical engineers, of Northampton. His next appointment was that of director of design for Messrs. Smith and Coventry, of Manchester, which he held for twelve years.
From 1926 up to the time of his death, which occurred at Worcester on 15th March 1945 at the age of seventy-one, he was chief of design to Messrs. James Archdale and Company, Ltd. Mr. Wright was well known as a lecturer on machine tools and contributed a paper on "Light Milling Machines and Practice" to the Symposium on Machine Tools organized by the Institution in 1939. He was elected a Member of the Institution in 1921.
