1979 BL Systems formed to bring together all of the computer, communications and data processing services for BL Cars.[1]

1984 Renamed Istel in preparation for privatisation

1986 About 30 percent of the work was for the parent Rover Group. Preparations began to privatize the last of that company's fringe activities, the computing operation Istel of Redditch[2]
