of 162 Deansgate (1874), later moving to 168 Deansgate and then 7 Albert Square, Manchester 1884)

Established by Josiah Thomas Chapman (b. 1843 Staverton Wiltshire, d.1907). Initially dispensing chemists and dealers in photographic goods, and later concentrating on photographic items. Chapman and Joshua Billcliff jointly patented cameras, sold under the Chapman name. Larger premises were built in Old Trafford in 1920.[1]
